SOKA GAKKAI INTERNATIONAL - SINGAPORE SOKA ASSOCIATION
The Singapore Soka Association (SSA) was officially registered with the Registry of Societies in 1972 as a Buddhist society that aims to promote the understanding and practice of Nichiren Buddhism. Besides promoting Buddhist faith, the organization is also committed on working for social harmony and progress founded on the Buddhist principle of respect for the dignity of life. There are 25,000 believers participating in SSA activities presently. The Nichiren School of Buddhism was founded in 13th-century Japan by the sage Nichiren. The School flourished in its country of origin through the efforts of the lay organization Soka Gakkai (established 1930), the forerunner of the present international movement, the Soka Gakkai International (SGI). "Soka" translated to mean "value-creation", describes the core spirit of the Buddhist philosophy; that is, Buddhism is a religion of self-empowerment. The Buddhist practitioner cultivates innate potential and power, expressed in one's enhanced wisdom and spirituality to change life and environment towards positive growth. This principle of value-creation is the principle of action upheld by SGI members worldwide.
SOKA GOLDEN LION
Founded in 1979 by a religious organisation namely SSA *Singapore Soka Association*, Golden Lion is a wushu and lion dance troupe. We are one of the pioneer groups in Soka Cultural Groups, and we strive for the better! For many occasions, we were invited to perform our skills in both arts.
EMPYREAN THRILLERS OF GOLDEN LION (training in China)
We are a team that specialise in both Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) and Extreme Gymnastics. The team is (unofficially) under Soka Golden Lion, as we are a group of Golden Lion members who are fascinated by Extreme Gymnastic Stunts and decided to form our own team. Currently the team consisnts of 11 members, which are the Generation 1 and 2. People out there do look out for our latest performances!!!
HOUGANG ZONE OF SSA
We are a group of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism practitioners that are under the Zone of Hougang. There are many capable SSA leaders emerged from Hougang Zone.
